Adam Reed, London

In March 2020 Adam Reed opened this stunning new salon in his beloved Spitalfields area of east London.

As a self-confessed obsessive when it comes to Grade A listed buildings, East London born Adam is fascinated by the history of this iconic part of the capital. It therefore provided the perfect setting and backdrop in which to design and position a salon that mirrors the aesthetic, ambience and vibe of this heritage-rich location.

Sourcing authentic furniture pieces through the Spitalfields Trust reflected Adam's eclectic tastes and retained an authenticity that enabled him to transform this former banana and tomato merchants office into a contemporary salon, whilst incorporating many original features, such as wall panelling, and an old safe and fireplace, to complement the environment.

From the comfort of a sofa in the heart of the salon Adam curates a jewellery, candles and hair accessories mini boutique showcasing brands that he has discovered and fallen in love with - it also serves as the salon's social hub!

Driven by a passion to create a unique space that captures the essence and heritage of Spitalfields, with a modern, creative aspect to inspire clients with the latest hair fashions, whilst also framing the expertise of his team and their sustainable ethics and philosophy, we think it's mission accomplished!

In addition to up-cycling and recycling many pieces, Adam turned to Takara Belmont for chairs. With the GT Sportsman grooming chair and Adria II styling chairs reflecting Adam's insistence on exemplary standards and an unrivalled salon experience, they also complemented the authentic look he was searching for. "The Adria II styling chair has not changed in its form since the 1970s and the GT Sportsman represents one of their most iconic traditional grooming chairs," Adam said. When the Japanese company first arrived in London it found a home in east London, so Takara Belmont also brings its own east London heritage to this stunning salon.
