A delighted Mooch hairdressing in Brighton is celebrating in style after winning a unique piece of pop memorabilia in the form of Takara Belmont's Sportsman chair.
Signed by artisits at the V-Festival in August; Cee Lo Green, Jordon from Rizzle Kicks, Jess Glynne and The Feeling's Richard Jones were among perfomers popping into the Pop Up Barber Shop for a pre-performance pampering. Takara Belmont supported the pop up experts by providing all the equipment and artists were encouraged to sign the chair for a competition, which we ran exclusively with Professional Hairdresser magazine.
After sifting through hundreds of entrants, Mooch were drawn to the delight of owner Gary Thomas. "We're really pleased to win this chair," said Gary. "Apart from being a great piece of furniture that will last a lifetime, it's a unique piece of pop history that will provide a real showpiece in our salon."
In the New Year, Gary will take delivery of the chair so look out for pictures of the presentation soon!

Research is the first of our #TakaraTips
Before you refit or look at opening a new salon or barbershop, do some research so you can plan your service options. Speaking to customers, or people in the area you are looking to open, will help you design services based on what people want. This also gives you an opportunity to suggest ideas and gauge the reaction to things you want to do as well.
Being unique in your approach is important, so also look at the salons and barbershops in your region. See how you can differentiate your brand to bring something new and exciting to people. When you’ve planned your approach and know your direction you can set about planning your salon design and build based on the services you’ll be providing and the equipment you’ll need to deliver these.
